12th Sunday of the Year

After a gloomy day of rain and grey skies yesterday, it was a sunny although rather windy morning today. This was the 12th Sunday of the Church's year - and we had two priests and a deaocn in attendance: Father Joe was again visiting from St Marie's (not Father Joe Mullen).

A group has been looking at the future aims of the parish and Father Ted spoke today about how we could assess what type of parish we are. He said everyone's views would be welcome on how we should 'go forward' as a parish, and there will be a chance for people to feed in their ideas later in the year.

A draft mission statement will be put to the parish council meeting on September for discussion.

There was a final appeal for people to come forward to be confirmed by the bishop next year. Numbers have to be sent off. There was also an appeal for new people to join the Holiday Club - a great way to support the parish, and possibly win £1,000 prize.

Next Sunday is the feast of St Peter and St Paul and marks the 2,000th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle to the Gentiles, and a special year of events.
