The 26th Sunday of the Year

It was good to welcome Father Ted back from holiday today. There was a pastoral letter from the Archbishop on the theme of St Paul (this being a special year dedicated to St Paul).
Father Ted reminded everyone about the forthcoming Thanksgiving Service for the Feast of St Francis. This takes place on Sunday October 5th at 3pm at the church. It is aimed particularly at children, but everyone is welcome. It's not a mass, and should last about half an hour. Tea and cakes to follow.
Today was also a special day for Sue (pictured) and Tony Valentine who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. After a party in the church hall last night, they had their wedding vows blessed by Father Ted today. A special song, the Song For Ruth, was sung at mass.
The first of the Living Faith talks has taken place. The next one, featuring
new Testament lecturer David Sanders, is this Thursday night. Spaces are still available. Call 810886.
Excitement continues to mount over the parish concert. Tickets should be on sale next week. About 14 acts have so far confirmed for the entertainment fest in November.
